Case File: Fish Investigation

cao3500252.thmBecause of their experience at the Ramford Hunting, Fishing and Skeet Shooting Club, Michael and Stacey again: They contacted Dr. Galena immediately – who again suggested that the fish, sediment, and water samples be frozen for future analysis. She, Stacey, and Michael discussed their photographs and field notes and used the location to access GIS coverages of the land uses of the area surrounding the pond.

The Kill Van Beast flows down from Lake Helen in the Ramford hills and meanders around the old Ramford County Public Works Garage and Gas Station. The garage and gas station have several old underground gasoline storage tanks that were used for all the vehicles for the County and the City of Ramford.

Dr. Galena is aware that the use of “leaded” gasoline before 1985 has caused problems in the ground water as a result of leaking from underground storage tanks. Ground water often mixes with surface water along the banks and bottoms of creeks so she suggests that a team of scientists work on this problem.
